arsura ombra

The first totally self-produced album, the result of a stainless friendship between the band members. The disc is a new and personal journey that the group, guided by the particular voices of Giuseppe Reho and Rocco Giangreco, tells of a land burned by the sun and teeming with memories of a bygone era.

ARSURA OK

The ethno-musical group ArsurA was born in 1998 from the meeting of different friends coming from different musical and life experiences.
After years of continuous changes, the group reaches a stable plant in 2003, when frame and percussion drums, bass and, although not in a fixed form, violin enter, respectively. Since then ArsurA grows and stabilizes until it reaches a certain stability and that particular groove that characterizes them as a group that is not essentially traditional, but nevertheless deeply rooted to its own land and with an eye always open to the world, to the Mediterranean.
Since 2003, therefore, the band, composed of 7 up to 9 musicians, starts touring the Salento first and then Italy, successfully bringing their own stylistic and musical originality, with a richly varied repertoire alternating frenetic pizziche in ArsurA style with sweet lullabies and songs of work, struggle and love; all this, to constitute a Salento frame around the original theme of music and author's composition, which the band offers by wisely linking local folk tradition with refined rhythmic and musical expressions that refer to Afro-Jamaican reggae, samba, balk , to Hiddish and a little to the whole world world music, with an eye interested in those cultures that overlook the Mediterranean and that draw from it a source of development and common inspiration.
The ArsurA group has participated, over time, in numerous musical events in many Apulian and national cities - the Apricena, Etnica, Notte della Taranta festivals, a meeting of the Memory in Lousanne, a collaboration with Eugenio Bennato and Taranta Power (in Tour in the main northern city in the year 2000), Wine Emporium in Milan - and collaborates, through the homonymous Cultural Association, to the realization of important cultural initiatives with a social and humanitarian background. In 2017, ArsurA made some decisive changes in the historical sound of the group, now more focused on pop-folk, but always with a deep connection to tradition and Mediterranean influences.
The group is working on the release of the second recording work, of which the single "Semper piĆ¹ a Sud" has just been released.
